Friend of the site Brett King let me know about the Manimal Sanctuary Launch - and interesting VR game taking place on Toronto Island, but in a post-apocalyptic world. They'll be having a release party at the Camp Wavelength Music Festival on August 19th, and 20th.
On August 19th and 20th at Camp Wavelength Music Festival, Postopian Games will be revealing Manimal Sanctuary, a unique new VR game that brings Toronto Island to life – dystopian-style.
Manimal Sanctuary is a lurking simulator. It leverages low-end VR to transport the player into a world in which gibbering monstrosities have fallen from the sky and laid waste to Toronto’s mainland. For now, the inhabitants of Toronto Island live in relative safety thanks to the waters that separate them from the enemy. Yet, unbeknownst to them, a creature resides beneath these waters: part coral reef, part Cthulhu, it thrives by consuming the residents’ emotional energy. You are this creature, eavesdropping on the conversations of Toronto Island’s inhabitants. By collecting the emotions they elicit through revelations of their petty dramas and devastating secrets, you may survive to see another season, all the while unfolding the mystery that shrouds the island and its citizens.
I was just mentioning on this weeks podcast that VR appears to just be full steam ahead right now, with Bloxiq VR shown last week, here comes Mervils, a fantasy VR game from London developer VitruviusVR.
