Embers of Mirrim Coming To Switch December 7th

Released earlier this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam - Creative Byte Studios is now bringing their game Embers of Mirrim to Nintendo Switch. Embers of Mirrim is a 2D platformer where you play as a mystical fox-like creature that can split into light and dark embers.  Players progress through the world saving their companions and solving puzzles using their splitting technique.

You can also check out some gameplay and thoughts I had on the game in the video below. Overall it's a solid addition to an already growing list of Toronto games on Switch. Also coming out December 7th is Longstory on Steam.

Let's Play - Embers of Mirrim - Out Today On PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC

The gang over at Creative Bytes Studios hooked my up with a Embers of Mirrim code, so here is my quick video review/impressions on it. The game is out today on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Embers of Mirrim from Creatie Bytes Studios is out on PS4, Xbox One, and PC today! Here's what I thought about it after beating the game.

Embers of Mirrim From Creative Bytes Studios Out Later This Month

Announced earlier this year, Creative Bytes Studios' Embers of Mirrim will be coming out to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam May 23rd.

To save their world from an alien threat, two proud races must set aside their differences and come together... literally. www.EmbersOfMirrim.com Embers of Mirrim is an adventure-platformer featuring a mystical creature with the ability to split into light and dark embers, each independently controlled by the analog sticks.

As you can see from the gameplay above, Embers of Mirrim is an adventure platformer, where you play as a mystical creature able to split. You can check out the PlayStation blog, where Design Director Frank Knezic went over a little bit about developing the "splitting" mechanic in the game:

Embers of Mirrim began as a simple idea. What if a player had the ability to switch back and forth between classic platforming and twin stick controls? We called this core mechanic “splitting:” you start as a traditional platforming character and then ‘split’ into two other characters, each independently controlled with the left and right analog sticks. We ran with this idea and developed it into a simple prototype room (think grey boxes and spheres) to answer some fundamental questions about “splitting:” How does the player decide when to split? What buttons do they use? How and where do the split characters re-combine? How do the split characters move? Is this actually fun?!

We'll have to wait next week to find out how deep the spliting feature goes, but we'll be sure to play it on our Youtube page.

Embers of Mirrim Announced - Coming Spring 2017

Creative Bytes, a indie developer in St. Catharines, announced Embers of Mirrim last month, an adventure platformer coming to consoles and PC later this year.  The developer did also take to the PlayStation Blog to discuss the game:

As you can see in the teaser trailer, Embers of Mirrim is an adventure-platformer featuring a powerful creature, Mirrim, with the ability to split into light and dark entities called Embers. As Mirrim, you can explore the dramatic landscape using opposing Embers to affect creatures and relics in the world in exciting and unexpected ways.
The Light and Dark Embers are independently controlled by the left and right analog sticks and offer new ways to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and traverse through the world. While developing the mechanic, we found it satisfying to seamlessly transition back and forth between the traditional platforming and dual stick flight!

To save their world from an alien threat, two proud races must set aside their differences and come together... literally. An ancient power forges together two distinctly different creatures into one versatile hero charged with restoring peace and balance to the world.

The game will be coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC in Spring of 2017. In the meantime, give Creative Bytes a follow on Twitter.
